Non-ministerial regulator.

Ofqual is a non-ministerial regulator within the current United Hampshire public-administration settlement.

Ofqual regulates qualifications and assessment arrangements assigned to it by the education settlement. It sets regulatory requirements, recognises awarding organisations where applicable, monitors standards and takes action to protect confidence in regulated qualifications.

Ofqual is independent in regulatory decisions. It does not operate schools or colleges and does not replace the Department for Education, Ofsted or an awarding organisation.
